The 13th edition (our Baker’s Dozen) of The Global Scavenger Hunt, proved to be a Goldilocks travel adventure adventure: not too hot/not too cold, not too big/not too small, not too urban/not too rural, not too old/not too new, not too competitive/not too lackadaisical. Just right! We had a great tribe this year–no drama, no one was left behind somewhere , and no one died. As an Event Director, I was pleased that we all arrived alive, on-time and without incident–no small feat.

The 2017 theme was to unplug and trust strangers ins strange lands–to be more social in the age of social media.

That said, we started in San Francisco on Pamela’s BIG (unpublishable) birthday, and had a fiesta to celebrate it and the the group getting to know each other.

A lot of balloons and tequila…
Happy Birthday Pamela!
20 travelers into 10 teams…
some veterans…
some newbies…
some from far away…

And just as quickly, we headed off to China for our 1st leg…

We started counting new Facebook friends…

Then off to leg 2 in Hanoi…
Kicking butt…

The 4-legged beastie challenge proved…interesting.

Then an 8-Hour Layover Challenge in sultry Bangkok.

A long 5-day Sri Lanka leg was next…

We returned to Egypt for the first time in 10 years.

Then for the homestretch in Europe…

But not before a quick last stop on Iceland…

Finally, the finish line in New York City.

Winning Team Ying’s 2017 Video:

Another successful circumnavigation…

BTW...the unplugging was mostly successful–some did and some didn’t!

Thank you all. And until we meet again…happy trails all.
